Parmesan Garlic knorts (Eggless)

Garlic knots are the type of garlic bread which is a great substitution of regular dinner rolls. These bread are flavored with parmesan cheese with a buttery, garlic and herbs topping.

Ingredients for Bread

  1. Bread Flour (Self Raising Flour)- 2 cups
  2. Milk- 1 cup
  3. Dry Yeast- 1 and half teaspoons
  4. Butter- 3 cubes (50 gms approx)
  5. Parmesan cheese- 3 tablespoons
  6. Salt- 1 teaspoon
  7. Sugar- 2 teaspoons
  8. Dry Parsley- 1/2 teaspoon
  9. Dry Oregano- 1/2 teaspoon
  10. Olive oil- 1 teaspoon

 

Ingredients for Garlic Butter

 

  1. Butter- 60 gms
  2. Chopped garlic- 1 tablespoons (3 cloves of garlic)
  3. Dry parsley- 1/2 teaspoon

 

Method

 

In a deep bowl add butter and milk and microwave it for 20 seconds. When butter melts completely then add sugar and dry yeast to the milk. Lightly stir it, cover it and let it sit for 5 minutes.

Once the yeast is creamy then add parmesan cheese, salt, dry parsley and oregano. Mix it well and slowly add the flour in two batches and make a soft dough.

Knead the dough with your hands and make it smooth. Now apply olive oil on top and cover the dough and let it rise for 1 hour.

After 1 hour, knead the dough again into a floured surface and divide the dough into equal small ball size parts.

Now take one part and roll it into a cylinder shape and twist it and make a knot. Put the knots on a lined baking sheet. Repeat the process and make all the knots.

Loosely cover the knots with a cloth and let it rise for half an hour or until it gets doubled in size.

Preheat the oven at 170ºc for 15 minutes. While they are sitting let us make garlic butter.

Combine butter and garlic in a saucepan and cook it for 2 minutes. Add a pinch of salt and parsley. Garlic butter is ready. Keep it aside.

Uncover the knots and lightly brush the knots with garlic butter and put it into the preheated oven and bake it for 15 minutes at 170ºc until it turns light brown in colour.

Brush baked knots with remaining garlic butter and Enjoy!
