Ingredients for dough

  1. Wheat four- 2 cups
  2. Another half cup for dusting
  3. Onion – 1 finely chopped
  4. Spring onions- 1/2 cup
  5. Coriander leaves- 1/4 cup
  6. Green chilli- 1 chopped
  7. Salt- 1 teaspoon or as per taste
  8. Carom seeds (ajwain)-1/2 teaspoon
  9. Onion seeds- 1/4 teaspoon
  10. Garam masala- 1/2 teaspoon
  11. Oil- 2-3 tablespoons
  12. Plain water – 1 cup or as required

Method

1.Add wheat flour in a deep bowl, add salt, Carom seeds (Ajwain), onion seeds , onions, spring onions, coriander leaves, green chilli, garam masala, salt and Oil.

2.Knead a soft dough by adding little water at a time. Apply little oil on top of the dough so that it does not dry.

2.Cover the dough with a wet muslin cloth and keep it aside for 10 minutes

3.In a small frypan dry roast the coriander leaves and pepper corns. When its done, crush it with the help of rolling pin or you can also use grinder and coarsely grind them.

4.Divide the dough into 4-6 equal parts.

5.Now Take one round dough and coat it with dry flour and press it lightly and make a patty out of it.

6.Again coat it with dry flour and roll it carefully with very light hand and give it a circular shape of approx. 6-7 inch diameter.

7.Put the paratha on hot griddle or tawa and cook on mediumflame. When it starts bubbling, flip it over. Apply oil on the side facing up. Then flip it over and apply oil on the other side. Cook till both the brown spots appear on both sides.

8.Onion paratha is ready and you can have it with yogurt, chutney, ketchup or pickles.
